Maintenance and renovation of school premises, equipment made available to children, distribution of dictionaries to primary school pupils (CM2), learning support in school and after-school care … Education is at the heart of council policy
The local council provides educational support for children with disabilities and learning difficulties, assuring the presence of four teaching assistants, who work according to the individual learning programmes set out for pupils with special needs. Elsewhere, two special classes have been integrated into mainstream schools.
A club aimed at improving the literacy of children in their early years of primary school (CP) has been opened in the town as part of the national ‘Succeed in Education’ policy.
The use of information and communication technology is encouraged for all pupils, with over 300 computer terminals in place in the town’s schools. All schools have access to high performance equipment: at elementary level, a classroom with 12 computer terminals connected to high speed broadband, and at nursery level a computer terminal in every classroom.
For parents, the council provides a guide to all the educational establishments available in the town, at the beginning of each school year. The launch of the Family Portal on the internet site has also simplified online payment for school meals and after-school care, as well as extra-curricular and recreational activities.
