The fishing port of Cherbourg

The “Centre de Marée”/Fish market center manages all the equipments of the fishing port of Cherbourg : services to the ships, the fish merchant area of Collignon with sea water supply, rooms for the wholesale fish merchants, workshops for shipowners, ice, auction market where the auction is operated.

The auction is operated through electronic or on internet.

Cherbourg is the first auction market in France and the third in Europe to organize the sale at a distance through the web.

Between 9000 to 10000 tons of seafood go through the auction market each year : Cherbourg is being regularly registered among the 10 first French fishing ports out of 40 and is registered as the second one in Normandy.
